At Twickenham House, we’re thrilled to welcome dogs as part of your wedding or family retreat experience. Because you rent the entire 400-acre private estate exclusively, your furry friends are free to join the celebration at our scenic mountain wedding venue, North Carolina couples love.
Nestled within 2,000 acres of untouched wilderness, Twickenham House and Hall is one of the most pet-friendly and picturesque North Carolina mountain wedding venues. We know dogs are more than pets—they're part of the family. That’s why we proudly welcome them to be part of your wedding ceremony, reception, or entire wedding weekend. At our NC mountain wedding venue, your four-legged friend can walk down the aisle or pose in photos with panoramic views only a Blue Ridge wedding venue can offer. Here are some fun ways to incorporate dogs into your big day!
Walk Down the Aisle
Couples are increasingly including their dogs in the planning of their big day. Dogs look awesome in photographs; and can play many different roles in your ceremony and celebration. As your pup is always by your side, why not walk or carry him or her down the aisle, and then seat them in the front row? You can attach a Go-Pro to their collar to get their perspective on the event!
Ring Bearer
Your pup can be your ring bearer! Adorable images of your dog wearing a tuxedo or gown, canine ring bearer pillows, a canteen around the neck with the rings inside, or any number of hilarious and unique ways to carry the rings (or faux rings you switch out) can be an amazing part of your wedding photographs and memories.
Officiant’s Assistant
Your dog can “assist” your officiant in your marriage ceremony. They can stand, sit, or lay down next to the officiant, and just look adorable. Or, if they are especially talented and will bark on command, they can sanction your commitment at the moment you become Mr. and Mrs. Of course, you’ll have to see if your officiant is amenable, but you can find unique and original ways for them to assist in your ceremony.
Dog of Honor
A great way to include your best furry friend is to have them be “best dog” or “dog of honor”. Your dog is a huge part of your life and your close companion, so it is natural to want them included in one of the most important days of your life. They can wear the appropriate outfit in matching wedding colors, walk down the aisle with you, and stand by your side as you say your vows.
Flower Dog
One of the best ways to include your pup in the ceremony is to make them your flower dog. The pictures will be absolutely adorable and treasured! You can include a flower boy or girl to walk with them, having your pup carry the flowers, and the kids sprinkle them as they walk along. Sure to make your guests smile, your pet will get lots of love and attention, and you will have original and unique photographs to cherish forever.
Greeter
Your dog can be the wedding greeter, extending a paw to guests to welcome them to the ceremony. Or they can just be a cherished wedding guest, watching the ceremony from a seat or bed with your family members and loved ones.
